Any ceramic tile on steps could be problematic if the stair assembly isn't very very rigid. Avaire tile is intended to be a "floating floor" and wouldn't work on steps based on that concept.
The tiles would have to be installed using conventional ceramic tile methods and would also require special edging treatment.
I personally know it could be done but I'm not sure what Avaire is going to recommend.

I am also very interested in this question. I have a dining room with a set of stairs adjacent and the answer to this question will determine whether I use this product. Overall, I am quite impressed with the product possibilities. Can we have a response from Avaire?
Also there seems to be a problem with samples that can't be figured out. I seems simple to me to just take one of each color of the 6 inch, package and SELL as a marketing process. It would make it a lot easier to decide.

We do not recommend using Avaire tile on steps. There are too many variations of stair configurations to handle every permutation in our instructions.
Having said that, we have seen multiple successful examples where Avaire tile was installed on steps.
If you do install it on steps, be sure to use a good construction adhesive like PL400. You will also want to install either a stair nose or an end-cap to protect the front edge.
Regarding sample packs, you can order a sample pack on-line. Go to http://www.snapstone.com/purchase3.php. From there, you can select a package of 5 of the lighter colors or 5 of the darker colors (in the 12x12 versions). We can look at offering a package in the 6x6 size too. The potential problem with the 6x6 samples is that some designs have broad variation that may not be fully represented on the smaller sample. Good idea though!
Send us a picture of the finished room!
