Vertical install

Has anyone tried to install on vertical surfaces such as bathroom surrounds?

I realize you would need thinset or adhesive but the reduction in effort on spacing seems to be a huge gain.

Not sure how the plastic tray spacer stuff works if you are trying adhere to a vertical surface.

I tried installing Avaire tile on the face of a whirlpool deck because the customer wanted the tile to match their floor tile.

Save yourself and just order the matching tile without the tray.I know it's available most places that sell Avaire products.

If you do try it you wont be able to install it in wet areas such as a shower or tub surround, but a polyurethane constuction adhesive similar to PL premium bonds well to the tray, don't use thinset.
