View Full Version : clarification of cutting tabs

I will be installing avaire tile at the entry way of a new room and carpet will be around three of the sides. I know to cut the tabs against the door but I am unclear about when I have the carpet laid I should have the tabs cut off here too.

Yes, I would cut the tabs off the edge abutting the carpet. Do you plan to have a transition installed between the carpet and the Avaire tile, or just have use a butt joint? If you don't use a transition piece, we suggest you run a bead of adhesive under the Avaire tile about 1/2 to 1" inside the edge (you'll want to make sure the carpet is tacked-down at the transition as well).
