That will work fine. But rather than grouting up to the metal strip use a color match caulk.

Transition to hardwood

I would rather not use a transition moulding when going from the tile to hardwood. What I would like to do is use a metal tile edging strip used in conventional tiling. I want to run the strip tight against the hardwood, then bring the tile up within the grout width to the strip, then grout between the tile and the edging strip. The tile and the hardwood floor would be the same finished height. Would this work?
