Author: Jonathan Date: 3/30/2008 11:11 am EDT There are no special instructions with Avaire tile installed at an outside entry door. However, here are a few considerations: 1) Dirt, grit and gravel can be carried into the entryway on shoes. If the area is not cleaned, the abrasive properties of grit, sand and gravel combined with normal foot-traffic can scratch the glazed surface. This is not unique to Avaire. Any flooring product can be damaged if not kept free of abrasive particles. Keep the area clean, or use a rug. 2) Moisture, especially snow in northern climates, is often present at an entry door. It is important to thoroughly seal the outside perimeter to ensure moisture does not seep around the outside edge. 3) Sometimes doorways can be drafty. If the threshold is not well sealed, the grout cure time can be extended if it is cold outside. If the door is particularly drafty and it is extremely cold outside, the Avaire tiles could have prolonged exposure to temperatures below 32 degrees which would void the warranty. |
