What heat mat are you considering? Avaire tile is compatible with any in-floor heat system that ensures the temperature is maintained at 115F or less. Since most radiant heat systems are designed to work with engineered wood, and wood requires the temperature to be less than 85F, Avaire tile is compatible with those systems. You should verify the maximum temperature is less than 115F.

You'll need to check with the heating system maker's policies about their mat protruding under carpet.

Short answer: Avaire tile is definitely compatible with most infloor heating systems!

Good luck!

Bummer, I guess no news is bad news. None of the local retailer's can help either. Looks like traditional tile for me. And the material is about 65% cheaper than avaire tile.

I have a small bathroom with a concrete floor. But the door sits at a 45 deg. angle to the room. This means that one corner of the 3 x 5 heat mat will protude into a carpeted area by almost 12". I would like to know if a traditional heat system would work with avaire tile or should i call a real tile guy and go old school.
