Author: Angie Date: 5/6/2009 10:19 am EDT It seemed like it was the plastic tray the blade was having trouble with, which is kind if wierd to me. In any case, we went and picked up a 7" portable wet saw at Menards and it worked just fine. I'll post before and afters, maybe tomorrow. |

Author: chris Date: 5/5/2009 8:12 am EDT Jonathan is correct! The blade makes the difference. If you have a good quality blade designed to cut porcelain tile you will be able to cut hundreds of Avaire tiles without any problems. Invest in a good blade, around $100.00, if youre going to purchace a saw. if youre only going to do one or two installs it might make more sense to rent one from your local home center or rental store. |

Author: Jonathan Date: 5/5/2009 6:21 am EDT This is the second time I've heard of a blade that couldn't cut the tile. We had another example where the saw came with several blades - one couldn't cut the tile at all, but the others were fine. With a blade designed to cut porcelain tile, we've never had a problem. |

Author: Angie Date: 5/5/2009 6:09 am EDT I bought a cheap 4" wet saw at Lowes because I only had about 30 sq ft to do. I'm taking that saw back today because it wouldn't cut thru the plastic. I don't know if it was the blade or what. I then went and got a 7" portable wet saw and got spare, higher quality blade. The 7" is working just fine with the blade it came with so I'll take the spare blade back. |

Author: chris Date: 5/4/2009 3:31 pm EDT Kelly, I mostly cut Avaire tile without a wetsaw, What you do is use a standard tile cutter, and when the tile is scored and broke you gently fold the tile back and score the tray with a utility knife and fold it some more and then it should snap. It might take a little practice but when you get the hang of it it's much quicker.I'm sure they have something on their website. Hope this helps. Thanks |
