Grouting edge

John said "Two walls are brick and the tiles were cut to fit as closely as possible to the walls and colored mortar was used to fill the gaps between the tiles and brick. I found that using a 1 gallon zip lock type bag with one of the bottom corners snipped off worked really well to accurately place the mortar where needed. It worked almost like a toothpaste tube and really eliminated a lot of clean up." Is this an acceptable practice to fill the 1/4 edge void with mortar? Thanks Jim

Filling the perimeter gaps is not ideal. The perimeter gaps should be filled with a color matched caulk or covered with a moulding like quarter round to allow for any movement. This is true even with traditional tile installations. But the zip lock bag trick is clever.

Absolutely! Grout bags are also available as well as cake decorating bags that will work. This is an age old method.:)
