installation over existing floors

We have laminate in our kitchen that has an island in the middle of the room. This is a home that was built in 2006 and they put the island directly over the laminate. Would we have to remove the laminate before we installed Avaire? The subfloor is 3/4 inch OSB.

you can go right over the laminate...
