All ceramic tile installations (whether floating or rigid installations) would require a perimeter gap for expansion. The Tile Council of North America recommends one leave a 1/4" gap all around the perimeter of the tiled area for this purpose.
Should you then want to caulk that gap with a flexible CAULK I suppose you could but covering the gap with the baseboard or various trims would be the thing to do.
