Avaire uses a high quailty porcelain tile and can be difficult to drill a large hole.
Make sure you have a drill bit that is made for drilling into porcelain tile and a drill that can operate a the proper speed needed to drill into hard materials.
I've had good luck using a hammer drill starting with an 1/8" drill bit then a 1/4" drill bit and then finishing with 1/2" drill bit.
If this isn't something you have access to maybe a local tool rental shop can help.
